dotty dot dot | I'm back!

Hello my lovely followers! I'm finally back after a long hiatus, summer holidays have started so i can finally breathe again and relax after a stressful year. I will definitely be updating this blog more often so i will be able to share with you different things i've learnt along the way. I also would like to work on the aesthetic of this blog in order to make it more refined and definite. I will be sharing diy projects and ideas, garments i have made and designed, outfit inspiration, fashion and style advice, endless wish lists and beautiful shoes! Thank you for sticking by this blog for so long, i promise not to disappoint! Watch this space!

P.s.. I'm completely obsessed with polka dots at the moment, a love for this pattern of evenly spaced circles just hit me all of a sudden. Now i can't stop thinking about them. Everywhere i look i can see them. I love this neat pattern paired with fur or a contrasting floral pattern. More is more, i think.

via my tumblr
just some inspiring pictures for you. Sheer fabrics always seem to catch my eye, i find even when looking for fabrics or designing new garments, delicate fabrics such as chiffon and organza instantly come to mind. I'm starting to develop a aesthetic full of contrasting elements such as structure vs drapery. Even though a draped/sheer influence slightly dominates the structured, i feel they melt together to create an aesthetic that suits who i am as a designer. I have also been working on a garment that i have up-cycled from second hand clothing! whichi will share as soon as i can! xxxx

chai, cinnamon & couture//

i have recently interviewed the lovely Chantelle of chai, cinnamon & couture, her blog contains compilations of pretty pictures, favorite fashion editorials, street style from around the world and occasionally an ad campaign or runway looks.

Favorite book?
Anything and everything by Jane Austen, especially Pride & Prejudice.
The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett is another favourite of mine :) I love reading, books always make me happy!

Top five favorite songs?
My favourite songs are changing constantly, although I love songs from Owl City, Lady Gaga, Ladyhawke, The Plasticines, Lily Allen, Regina Spektor, Imogen Heap and Lisa Mitchell has a lovely voice too!

Favorite meal to cook?
I love cooking but I'm a total beginner! I really should do it more often, although the only thing I know how to make is bolognese. . . oh and cupcakes!

What's currently on your wish list?
The entire Miu Miu Summer 2010 collection, some sleep and a break from school!

What is your favorite fashion trend at the moment?
I don't tend to follow trends, although I adore the nautical look; i'm obsessed with navy & white stripes teamed with red :) Also, I simply adore the cute socks & heels trend, it's so sweet :)
What's your most treasured piece of clothing?
My red satin boxer shorts that have a black cat print on them; very miu miu-esque! I made them in sewing class and they were my first piece of clothing I've ever made so I love, love, love them :)

What fashion designers do you like?
Lee 'Alexander' McQueen: A true inspiration, with undeniably incredible talent! His work reflected how fashion is art.
Jean Paul Gaultier: He's French and he loves cats and corsets, he's also very cute in his interviews and he makes beautiful clothing!
John Galliano: Because his hair is longer than mine! Only joking! He's daring, crazy & truly incredible!
Karl Lagerfeld: Oh, I wish to have half his knowledge one day!
Miuccia Prada: The superwoman behind Miu Miu and Prada, she is super fantastic!
Yves Saint Laurent was a wonderful fashion designer, who I'll worship 'til the day I die!

How would you describe your style?
I tend to dress minimalistically and quite femininely :) I usually wear a statement piece some jewellery and a majority of the time I'll be wearing a pair of pretty but uncomfy shoes!

What inspires you?
Amazing people and places! I am always being inspired by the wonderful world of blogging! And I can always pick up inspiration from everywhere I go!

Where else can we find you?
I am so addicted to tumblr at the moment []

What's your dream for the future?
I dream of being best friends with Karl Lagerfeld! I want a unicorn and a house full of Miu Miu and sparkly things :) I guess I just want to be happy... But then again, don't we all?!

Thank you so much Chantelle :)
